YACHT INFORMATION:
A 80ft private yacht is looking for a dedicated couple to join their vessel along a unique itinerary spanning 2 years of travel. Brief overview below:
- Hands on owners who have always managed their vessels themselves, however, would now like to employ crew to work alongside them and be a part of the journey to get the vessel back home to Vancouver Island.
- Long-range travelling vessel, in the yard on the Gold Coast until September, (sky lounge refit, new teak deck, extending the boat another metre)
- Twin engine MTUs onboard
- Vessel will leave Australia end of September
- Vessel will work the way north, head to Whitsundays, then north to Cairns, head up to Torres Strait, PNG – towards Indonesia (Philippines) depending on cyclone insurances. Taiwan stop/southern Japan (6-week layup)
- Owners will fly home for Christmas for 6-week period.
- Vessel continues journey through to Japan, spending 8-10 months exploring around Japan for 2027
- End of 2027 – owners will return home again for 6 weeks for Christmas Back to vessel end of Jan/Early Feb 2028
- May – window of departure from Northern Japan (Sapporo region) through Aleutian Islands, Arctic circle – ocean crossing/transit over a week or two
- By June – main part of Alaska
- July/August – Canada
- Final stop – then into Winter mode in November
WE ARE LOOKING FOR DECKHAND/ENGINEER WITH THE FOLLOWING SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Hands-on, can-do attitude, high level of energy & positivity
- Deckhand with solid knowledge to work on his own, assist with all operations onboard and have a sound engineering knowledge
- Capable to do engine maintenance, ensuring records are kept, keeping parts and engine supplies in stock at levels needed to service the engines. Trouble shooting electrical, hydraulic, and other boat systems issues. Servicing all ships systems on service dates, onboard watches.
- Team player who is willing to help out where needed (washdowns, fenders, lines etc)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- STCW + Seafarer Medical
- Coxswains/Master <24m with Engineering experience and relevant tickets required (MED2 preferred)
START DATE:
Mid August 2026
EMPLOYMENT TYPE:
Full-time Contract with annual leave and return flights once per year will be discussed in the interview process.
